Through the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19, the strength of our Hospitals and healthcare system has been vital to Australia’s response. Awareness of the role of medical research in developing treatments for emerging healthcare challenges has also significantly increased in our community.
The St Vincent’s Curran Foundation and our family of supporters have long assisted with the costs of clinical research programs and the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment to enable St Vincent’s Hospitals to lead the way in areas as diverse as Heart Lung Innovation, Haematology, Blood and Marrow Transplant, Cellular Therapies, Cancer, Clinical Genomics, Nursing and Mental Health. Your contributions support St Vincent’s leadership in many fields and ensure all our patients – in our Public and Private Hospitals – benefit from access to the best possible care when they need it the most.
Recent support from philanthropists Paul Salteri AM and Sandra Salteri and the Robert Millner Family for the construction of the new Endoscopy suites, will ensure St Vincent’s Hospital has the latest technology and facilities to support the work of our leading gastroenterologists and colorectal surgeons.
Similarly, the Ernest Heine Family Foundation’s support has brought us closer to realising St Vincent’s Hospital’s objective of building the new $10.65 million Emergency Trauma Operating Theatre.
We are very grateful to all these donors for their visionary support and to all of you for your ongoing contributions.
Over coming months, we will be seeking to support our St Vincent’s Brains Trust to raise at least $8 million for initiatives striving to find cures and treatments for diseases of the brain. We look forward to sharing more stories of the incredible work being undertaken by the Brains Trust with you in the future.
In closing, I would like to thank all those who contributed to our Healing, Hope and Humanity Fund Christmas Appeal. This Fund is at the heart of our mission. It is designed to assist those in need who might not be able to afford access to urgent health care, specialist treatments and/or expensive drugs. The generous response to our Christmas Appeal and associated fundraising has enabled us to “top up” this important Fund.
It is this spirit of generosity that inspires and enables so much of our work at St Vincent’s throughout the year.
