Community Partners commitment continues

Our community partners continue their amazing commitment and hard work to fundraise to support St Vincent’s in many different ways.

We sincerely thank Siobhan O’Toole and her dedicated network of friends, family and professionals, who have raised more than $120,000 in the last two years to allow 70 cancer patients to train their way through chemotherapy via the Prehab Cancer Exercise Program, with the program about to commence.

The Year 11 Drama Class at Bethany College Hurstville raised funds for nursing education by staging a play called The Girls in Grey – all about St Vincent’s nurses during World War I. We send a huge thank you to the students, parents and teachers of Bethany College.

Home Instead Sydney Eastern Suburbs, a home care services provider, selected St Vincent’s Dementia Advisory Service as their charity of choice, donating $10,000 to our home care delivery team. This generous gift will be used to help nurses and carers receive further training in caring for Alzheimer’s or dementia patients. Thank you to Sarah McAviney and her team at Home Instead Sydney for their support.

More than 420 guests gathered at the Waterview Bicentennial Park in March 2022 to celebrate the life of Katie Soutter and to raise funds for the lung transplant unit at St Vincent’s. Katie’s doctor, Dr Monique Malouf and nursing staff that formed close bonds with Katie and her family joined the celebrations. Our heartfelt thanks to Emily and the Soutter family for their kind support in memory of Katie.

Thank you also to the Vaccaro Group for their inaugural Brain Ball at Club Marconi in May 2022, raising more than $100,000 for neurosciences research. Award winning journalist Sophie Scott facilitated a Q&A session on the night with St Vincent’s neurologists A/Prof Bruce Brew AM, Dr Stephen Tisch and A/Prof Susan Tomlinson.

Thank you to all of you and your supporters who help St Vincent’s to provide the best healthcare for all.
