St Vincent’s Curran Foundation and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney are excited to announce that the Susan Wakil AO Healing Garden, one of the final elements in the St Vincent’s Private Hospital redevelopment, is now complete.
The garden is named in honour of Mrs Susan Wakil AO, who, along with her husband Mr Isaac Wakil, generously gave her support and time to St Vincent’s over many years. Susan was heavily involved with the Private Hospital Ladies Committee, the forerunner to today’s Friends of St Vincent’s Private Hospital, and we are proud to honour her memory in perpetuity in this way.
Positioned at the entrance to St Vincent’s Private Hospital, the walkway in the Garden also honours those donors from the Friends of St Vincent’s Private Hospital, that supported our Friends for Life campaign. Large modern pavers in the walkway have been used to permanently acknowledge the contribution of these supporters. We all look forward to celebrating their unveiling at the official opening of the redevelopment later in the year.
In 2015, the Friends of St Vincent’s Private came together in strength to support Your Hospital of the Future campaign, working closely with the Foundation to raise $43.7 million towards the capital project. This was an overwhelming response for which we continue to be extremely grateful.
This year, the Friends of St Vincent’s Private Hospital, led by Patron Mrs Roslyn Packer AC, celebrates 10 years since its inception. We give our thanks to Mrs Packer for her patronage and active involvement throughout this time. We also thank our earliest Ladies Committee members and our current Friends of St Vincent’s Private for their continued support, and for sharing our commitment to the mission of the Sisters of Charity.
