Thousands of people came together for Australia’s biggest fishing challenge on Sunday 18 March! What’s even better is that proceeds from the event supported the Peter Duncan Neurosciences Research Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney!
The annual Pirtek Fishing Challenge was held right across Australia, giving everyone the chance to grab the biggest catch of the day. Entrants simply needed to get out on the water between 6am and 6pm, catch a fish and photograph it on the bragmat to display its length. Fish are then returned alive to the water before the challenge continues to try in an effort to catch a bigger fish!
Just by entering, people also support the The Peter Duncan Neurosciences Research Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, the number one neuroscience research facility in Australia. The Unit studies adult stem cells and their role in causing and exacerbating neurological diseases. This donation will help researchers find and apply new neuroscience tequniques for patients suffering from diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s, and other neurological infections and stroke.
