The St Vincent’s Palliative Care Department looks after patients with life-limiting illness and those undergoing anti-cancer treatments. The integrated, interdisciplinary team at Sacred Heart Health Service provide pain control, symptom management, nursing, psychosocial and pastoral support to those in need.
Patients, their carers and families are cared for across New South Wales through the following services:
- The community palliative care team visit patients, their carers and families in their homes and at residential aged care facilities across Sydney.
- Bereavement counselling services continues to support families and friends in their bereavement after a loved one passes.
- Undertaking palliative care research to find the best way of psychologically and physically treating patients.
